This receiver is
has a CI slot, which is a slot to accept a CAM, a Conditional Access
Module. By selecting the correct CAM you can then use almost any
card, from almost any pay TV provider in this receiver. However
as Sky uses a special encryption system, a CAM is not currently
available for Sky cards.
However the best feature
of this receiver is the ability to have up-scaled High Definition
output via the up-scaling (up to 1080i). This unit is the most cost
effective method of having up-scaled High Definition from the Freeview
satellite channels as well as the many other channels available
via satellite. The TF5050CI will take any standard definition satellite
channel and use the built in high quality up-scaler to convert it
to a high definition output at a resolution of your choice. The
result is so amazing that on an HD Plasma or LCD this option makes
even high quality component outputs from other satellite receivers
look like cheap by comparison.
Outputs include RGB,
YUV (component), composite (AV), SCART socket and HDMI. Has one
CI slot to accept CAMs.
